Privacy policy

This page explains what personal information I collect when you use this website or get in touch, why I need it, and what your rights are. I've written it in plain English.

In short

  • I only collect what you choose to send me, mainly through the contact form.
  • I use it to reply to you and, if we work together, to deliver your project.
  • I never sell your information or use it for advertising.
  • This website doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies.
  • You can ask me to see, correct or delete your information at any time.

Who I am

This website is run by Kelani, trading as MK App Design, based in the United Kingdom. I am responsible for your personal information (the “data controller” under UK data protection law).

You can contact me about privacy at any time by email at madimbik@gmail.com or by phone on 07418 036598.

What information I collect

When you fill in the contact form, I receive:

  • your name and email address
  • your phone number, if you choose to give it
  • what you need, your rough budget if you give one, and your message

If you contact me by email, phone or WhatsApp instead, I receive the details you share in that conversation. If we work together, I will also keep the information needed to deliver the project and send invoices, such as your business name and billing address.

Please don't send sensitive information (for example about health, or bank card numbers) through the contact form.

Why I use it, and the legal basis

  • To reply to your enquiry and prepare a quote. This is a step you've asked me to take before we might enter into a contract.
  • To deliver your project and provide support. This is needed to carry out our contract.
  • To keep business and tax records. This is a legal obligation.
  • To follow up on an enquiry you sent. This is in my legitimate interests as a business, and you can ask me to stop at any time.

I will never send you marketing emails unless you've asked to receive them.

Who I share it with

I never sell your information. I only share it with the services this website needs to work:

  • Resend, which delivers contact form messages to my inbox.
  • Vercel, which hosts this website.
  • Google, which provides the email inbox where enquiries arrive.

Some of these companies store information outside the UK, including in the United States. When that happens, they use legal safeguards approved for UK data protection, such as standard contractual clauses, as described in their own privacy terms.

I may also share information if the law requires it, for example with HMRC.

How long I keep it

  • Enquiries that don't lead to a project: up to 12 months, then deleted.
  • Client project and billing records: for as long as the law requires, usually six years after the end of the tax year they relate to.

Cookies and similar technology

This website does not use tracking, analytics or advertising cookies.

If you switch between light and dark mode, your browser remembers your choice on your own device so the site looks the way you prefer next time. This information stays in your browser and is never sent to me. You can clear it at any time in your browser settings.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law, you have the right to:

  • ask for a copy of the information I hold about you
  • ask me to correct anything that's wrong
  • ask me to delete your information
  • object to, or ask me to limit, how I use it
  • ask me to send your information to you or someone else in a common format

To use any of these rights, email madimbik@gmail.com. I'll reply within one month, and it's free.

Complaints

If you're unhappy with how I've handled your information, please contact me first so I can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's data protection regulator, at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.

Changes to this policy

If I change how I use personal information, I'll update this page and the date at the top. If you have any questions, please get in touch.
